A unifying theme in my work is to focus on my perception of the nature around me, while being conscious that I am a part of that nature.
Every stroke or element is my response to what I experience.
I try to be open and neutral in my observations, try not to fix or finalise my image in advance of the painting process and pay attention to my body's response, in particular my breathing. I respond to the emerging painting as it develops, taking into account the perception of nature in my body. I use a range of materials from natural pigments and paper to synthetic materials such as polyester or silicon. The material plays a role in guiding my perception.
